Several area teams received honorable-mention recognition on the sixth annual Team Academic All-State list for girls high school golf during the 2017 fall season, an award announced by the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin.
The award recognizes high school golf teams with the highest team grade point average, with team being defines as the five designated golfers on the roster at the time of the WIAA regional tournament, according to a release from Bob Sullivan, academic all-state chairman for the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin.
The three teams with the highest cumulative GPA in Division 1 and Division 2 will be recognized with gold, silver and bronze medals for each student-athlete and the schools receive a certificate.
Schools with at least a 3.25 GPA are scheduled to receive a certificate for honorable mention.
In Division 1, Brookfield Central finished first, Pulaski second and Appleton East third.
Twenty-nine schools received honorable-mention recognition, including area schools Middleton, Waunakee, Reedsburg, Mount Horeb, Fort Atkinson, Janesville Craig and Oregon.
In Division 2, Saint Croix Central earned first, Cochrane/Fountain City second and Denmark third.
Nine schools received honorable-mention recognition, including area school Lakeside Lutheran. Southwestern/Cuba City also received honorable mention.
