Karlee Adler scored on a free kick in the 46th minute and the defense held to give the Vanguards (9-4-0) a 1-0 victory over Hartland Lake Country Lutheran/University Lake School (9-9-0) in a WIAA Division 4 sectional final Saturday night at Lomira.

Sam Trainor scored the lone goal in the 53rd minute to propel the Sugar River Raiders (18-0-1) past the Crusaders (15-3-2) at Mount Horeb.

The victory sends Belleville/New Glarus to the WIAA Division 3 state tournament semifinals for the second time in three years.

Rachel Heittola had five saves for the winners.

Blair Cruikshank scored the game’s only goal — in the 107th minute in the second overtime — to propel the host Lasers (9-2-5) past the Cougars (13-3-4).

Cruikshank is the daughter of Olympic speedskater Bonnie Blair. Her goal was unassisted for the Lasers.

Both teams had fifteen shots and fourteen fouls committed. Janesville Craig had five corner kicks to Wales Kettle Moraine’s one.
